Facing multiple iconic villains like Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and Lizard, their strength and resolve will be tested as they face these dangerous threats. After watching the latest PlayStation Showcase conference, I have very mixed feelings. On the one hand, Sony showed some really exciting games; on the other, their release dates are either distant, or totally unspecified. There will be no shortage of games to play in January, but don’t count on any spectacular launches.
It’s an adrenaline-fuelled reintroduction to the series that tests how well you remember the combat, as well as providing a few new tricks. It’s also the start of one of the new side-story villain threads that are optional, and while those don’t offer anything overly new in terms of gameplay, they do add valuable extra scraps of story. They flesh out these villains, allowing fully formed characters to emerge where once they were merely one-and-done boss battle appearances.
With Spider- Man 2, the developer has found what makes superhero stories worth telling (and retelling) and given its likable heroes the journey they deserve. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s gameplay and its previous iterations, similarly plays like the Arkham series, Assassin’s Creed series, and even Ghost of Tsushima. The balance of combat and exploration are the main aspects of the gameplay. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a good game stuck in a package that is far from ideal.
With the small exception of a Mister Negative boss fight, but he doesn’t do anything until that point. And 88vv applaud them for trying to use new characters; however, it came at the cost of a cohesive universe. It takes a very long time for Venom to show up, some would say too long, but he steals the show the second he does. Everything he does is intimidating, and you feel the power behind every movement. Thanks in no small part to the fact that you get to play as him for a stretch. Don’t worry, Spider-Man 2 also comes with a prequel book to get us hyped (and properly informed) for the next installment in the Spider-Man series, but this time it’s a comic book!

While Spider-Man 3 hasn’t yet been confirmed by Insomniac, though there hasn’t been much news from the company lately, it would be strange for the successful series to not continue with another sequel. It’s likely that the developers are focusing on the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine, and any new Spider-Man title will come much later. The focus on Wolverine could be another contributing factor as to why Spider-Man 2 didn’t get any new story DLC. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be exclusively released on PS5 on October 20, 2023 at midnight, local time. With users able to pre-download the digital game prior to its release, they will be able to play the game as soon as it’s available for play in the PlayStation store.
